What a Best of Swiss Apps Award Night: together with the TX Group and Graubünden Ferien, we looked back on the key moments of our projects, celebrated our collaboration and toasted two gold awards. The 20 Minuten app won gold and the Nordic Challenge "Alle laufen lang" also took gold. We congratulate the teams behind these extraordinary projects.
20 Minuten app: Gold at Best of Swiss Apps 2025
We have completely revamped Switzerland's most popular news app for TX Group. The result: technical excellence and a new benchmark in the mobile news experience.
Highlights
The comprehensive redesign demonstrates the highest standards in mobile development and performance optimisation. With millions of app visits every day, absolute stability and performance are essential – and we have mastered this requirement.
A newly designed look and feel, supported by the Discover Page, ensures an optimal user experience. In addition to adjustments to colours, logos and animations, features have also been redesigned and a new typeface has been consistently introduced.
Cross-device features such as the Notification Centre and the watch list offer additional value. With the new teaser formats, the editorial team can highlight specific topics and display additional information at a glance in the app.
The app deliberately avoids content behind a login or paywall and improves readability and contrast. At the same time, the integration of header bidding and lazy loading sustainably strengthens 20 Minuten's "app first" monetisation strategy.
The jury's verdict:
"The redesigned '20 Minuten' app impresses with its modern design, clear structure and low-threshold access without login. Intuitive navigation and smooth transitions ensure a user experience of the highest standard. The app sets new standards by cleverly adapting modern features for the Swiss audience. The notification centre, versatile discovery page and innovative floating button in particular impressively underline the successful redesign."
Nordic Challenge "lle laufen lang": Gold at Best of Swiss Apps 2025
The Nordic Challenge turns cross-country skiing in Graubünden into a playful, digital experience. The native app for iOS and Android combines inspiration, performance tracking and gamification to create a unique user experience – and has been awarded gold.
Highlights
With virtual ibexes, creative challenges and motivating team features, the app encourages users to explore new cross-country trails in Graubünden. From the wooden ibex to the diamond version, users collect trophies and can win attractive prizes.
An easy-to-understand onboarding process quickly introduces users to the app. Attractive information about cross-country skiing – from basic knowledge for beginners to details about trail status, catering and special offers – is available at any time.
GPS tracking uses the sensor data from the mobile device and compares it with an API service from the Federal Office of Topography swisstopo. This allows your position and the distance you have covered to be recorded accurately.
Team challenges strongly encourage community building. Trail cafés invite you to network not only virtually, but also in real life. Clever storytelling and gamification create a lively, motivating community.
