SAP Commerce Cloud Release 2211 Including Composable Storefront Integration

Markus HenkelJanuary 2023

In late 2022, SAP published two software updates and portfolio changes. As well as the integration of the 'new' composable storefront, previously Spartacus, it is release 2211 of SAP Commerce Cloud that is worth noticing.

A New Level of Technology

SAP Commerce Cloud 2211

In addition to the storefront integration, SAP simplifies the standards and their management. The company promises “faster time to market, lower maintenance costs, reduced operational cost, and reduced risk for security management while having faster deployments”.

  • Administrators can look forward to new and optimised management tools that remove the stress of new deployments – providing early insights into experience-impacting performance issues.

  • “SAP Commerce Cloud blue-green deployments” help reduce the likelihood of costly rollbacks.

  • Customers can build multiple stores in the same back end, providing discrete permissions per store for the same user.

With SAP release 2211, SAP Spartacus becomes a composable storefront, a fully-fledged enterprise product in the SAP world. Whether you do B2B or B2C, there has never been a better time to shift the focus to the SAP Commerce Cloud. Customers get to enjoy a state-of-the-art technology platform thanks to a flexible composable commerce solution.

SAP Merges SAP Commerce Cloud and SAP S/4HANA

The SAP Commerce Cloud release 2211 also drives the closer end-to-end integration of B2B features. In future, SAP wants to improve the B2B order-to-cash experience in particular, supporting the collaboration between sales staff and back-office teams. Functionally, SAP Commerce Cloud merges with SAP S/4HANA.

  • Users use existing business processes including price calculations, credit limits and stock levels – all from a single source, the SAP S/4HANA system – in real time, of course.

  • Self-service orders, reorders and returns are enabled and accessible in Commerce Cloud thanks to the link to SAP S/4HANA Sales.

  • Real-time billing information is available at any time.

Procurement Networks – Seamless Integration for Purchasers

With SAP release 2211, it becomes easier to quickly integrate new business models into the commerce environment. SAP Commerce Cloud 2211 not only lets customers access a supplier’s website from their internal procurement application for punch-out. Frontend and product detail pages also keep the familiar look and feel of the procurement environment. The handling of the tools and the data integration has also become much easier.

SAP Commerce, What Else is Missing?

Artificial Intelligence

Companies have been working to harness artificial intelligence for their purposes since long before ChatGPT. SAP is also placing a stronger focus on AI opportunities. From AI-supported customised recommendations to intelligent product recommendations based on search intent or even inventory data, the future looks promising.

Partner Network

To keep growing products through the integration of partner innovations, the company is also expanding its partnerships in the commerce segment. We would like to highlight one partnership in particular, because Akeneo PIM is part of our partner network. This solution offers retailers, distributors, manufacturers and brands a simple way to manage their product information.
